While Madison is being built, both are free. This copy cannot take a card even if you wanted it to, and nothing is held back in the meantime: the demo is the whole product, unlocked, without an account.
Not two tiers. Two products.
Neither one is a cut-down version of the other, which is why some rows are empty on one side.

About the money.
Anything not here, write to us. There is an address in the footer and a person reads it.
Can I pay right now?
No, and that is deliberate. Madison is free while it is being built and this copy cannot take a card even if you wanted it to. The prices here are what it will cost when it is finished.
Do I need both?
Almost certainly not. They are separate products with separate links and separate data, and each is built around a different shape of year. Take the one that matches yours.
Is there a student price?
Madison for Students is the student price — a third of Professional, because a semester is a simpler thing to hold than a quarter of projects. No paperwork, no .edu address to prove.
Monthly or yearly?
Either. A year costs about seven months of the monthly price on Students and about eight on Professional. Nothing is locked behind the longer one.
What happens to my plan if I stop?
It is yours either way. It stays readable on every device and you can export a calendar file (.ics) or a JSON backup of everything, whenever you like — including before you ever pay anything. Only new saves to the account and the Claude reader wait for a subscription.
What is not in the price?
Nothing. There is no upgrade tier, no seat count and no feature held back to sell later. The list on each card is the whole product.
